Privacy

The short version: we measure how the app is used, not who is using it.

Anonymous usage analytics

We record which parts of the app get used — a lesson card opened, a round finished, a scenario started — so we know what to improve. Events are anonymous: there is no sign-in, no name, no email address, and no attempt to work out who you are. IP-based location is switched off, so events are not stored against where you are.

Analytics is provided by Mixpanel. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, nothing is collected at all.

No account data

There are no accounts. Your chosen language, your conversation progress and whether you have muted audio are stored in your own browser and never sent to us. Clearing your browser storage clears all of it.

Speech never leaves your device

Pronunciation checking uses your browser's own speech recognition. We never receive, store or transmit a recording, and we never record what the recogniser thought you said. A speaking attempt reaches us as a single true-or-false: matched, or not.

Your browser may send audio to its own vendor to perform recognition — in Chrome, that is Google. That is between your browser and its vendor; it does not pass through LingoYap.

Audio you hear

Spoken lines are ordinary audio files generated ahead of time and served with the app. Playing one is a normal file request — no third-party voice service is contacted while you use LingoYap.
